I am now testing a new template.

Before I forget, last week I met William Gibson. Quite a nice, humble man. He was promoting his latest novel, Pattern Recognition at a bookstore in Emeryville.

Other than that, I am in class two days a week @ Ex'Pression College of Digital Arts in Emeryville, and wasting a lot of time in my room in Oakland. I have been recording some guitar material on a Roland VS-840 digital 8-track recorder. I got my old 1984 Honda Civic fixed finally so I don't have to drive around the big clunky Volvo.

DJB: I've thought at times that what you view as a symbiosis forming between humans and psychoactive plants may in fact be the plants taking over control of our lives and commanding us to do their bidding. Have you any thoughts on this?

Terence: Well, symbiosis is not parasitism, symbiosis is a situation of mutual benefit to both parties, so we have to presume that the plants are getting as much out of this as we are. What we're getting is information from another spiritual level. Their point of view, in other words, is what they're giving us. What we're giving them is care, and feeding, and propagation, and survival, so they give us their elevated higher dimensional point of view. We in turn respond by making the way easier for them in the physical world. And this seems a reasonable trade-off. Obviously they have difficulty in the physical world, plants don't move around much. You talk about Tao, a plant has the Tao. It doesn't even chop wood and carry water.

Okay here's an update. I now live in Oakland and it's going alright. Here are some recent pictures of things in my new life.

Tonight I also went to see a screening of films done by Ant Farm. Ant Farm was a group of artists back in the late 60's/early 70's who are most widely known for producing "Media Burn" in 1975, in which they crashed a customized Cadillac through a pyramid of flaming television sets. The members of the group were present after the screening for questions.

I haven't posted in a long time.
I am pretty sure that Bill Kiley is the only person who visits the page. Uh...I'm in limbo.

Pictures of lichens

Why lichens. Because as Charlie says, "Lichens are tripped."
Also, here is a scan of an old Atari diskette (5.25 inch).

I will have some photos up soon of my new house in Oakland.
take care, everyone!

Creativity and What Blocks It

I have been in a real creative slump lately. Everything I make in Reason sounds the same over and over.
I am going to start using Reason in a different way, perhaps more as a live sound tool, so that I can get over this problem.

Booth says that he doesn’t object to fans downloading Autechre for free–he just prefers the sound of less easily accessible 44K versions (or ones released officially through Warp). Rather than seeing the internet as a great leveler, he believes it is a “highly exclusive worldwide web. Most people don’t have a connection that allows them to download high-resolution files. Look at a physical map of internet portals. They’re all in America, Northern Europe and a bit of Japan. The internet is more culturally exclusive than Coca Cola.” Brown, as ever, pinpoints the flaws in his partner’s grand theory. “You can get broadband in India and the Middle East because loads of programmers live there.”

Dave loves you.
I am @ Charlie's house and we are hanging out. Charlie is eating dry Top Ramen.
Clearly Smack ramen is the superior brand, but most people haven't caught on yet.
@ first I didn't know what to make a blog about. I want it to appeal to as many people as possible and not have too much personal junk that only my close
friends would get etc. So perhaps it will be a mish-mash of things which I fing funny, poigniant...uh, irrelavant but magical? hmm...keep checking back.

I watched Joe Dirt on accident but it was kind of funny. Of course I was under a cold at the time so my state of delerium probably lent itself to my
ability to appreciate Saturday Night Live humour...alas.

I remember back when I first got into the internet (circa 1995), my friend had a copy of the Internet Yellow pages. Within this mighty tome were addresses of websites
on a pethora of topics. There were even usenet addresses posted. The internet was only in its infancy then...

The Darkness "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" :: music video

I dunno, Noah made me check this out. This might sum it up:
- fuzzy purple tentacle grabs 80's rocker.
- strange goatee man appears in clouds.
- holy guitar from the heavens appears.
